“WHAT WE WANT IN LIFE...?”
The replies to this question may depend on life stage, we are going though. A child would say a particular toy. A student may say good grades, company of friends or something else. An man/women may seek to be successful, or to have highly paid job, a successful business, a beautiful house, a big car, a beautiful family and so on….
These are milestones on our journey but what we want to derive from all this….
It is “HAPPINESS” which is common during all the life stage. So, if we have to say in one word what we want in our life……. it is “HAPPINESS”.
But in today’s world even after achieving all the above goalposts/milestones (after putting so much effort).
Are we happy? The reply is big “NO”.
Then we have to explore why after achieving all the goalposts/milestones we are not happy.
If we have a re-look on our milestones, whether anywhere it is promised that these milestones will bring the happiness? It is our presumption that these things will bring the happiness. But a big house will provide me the security & comfort, a car will provide me the comfort but not the happiness. I derive my happiness/sorrows from the interaction that I have with the family. The family perse does not promise happiness.
It is perfectly fine to wish for a toy, good grades, successful job, a house, a car, a family or wealth. But we must understand that these things perse don’t bring happiness. We attach a mental well being to these goalposts and confuse it for happiness.
Therefore our happiness seems to be so momentary, so temporary. We wish a happy journey not just the happy destination. Our journey should be happy. It is perfectly fine that we endeavor to achieve all our goalposts/milestones but i am not happy to achive my milestone but without linking our happiness to these goalposts. We are trying to find it in a wrong place.
Happiness is the state of being…….It is my original sanskar. It is already there in abundance. It is so much in me that I can say I am happiness. Just we have to be aware about it…The more we know ourselves the more we become aware about the fact that we are happiness…
